LAST WK: 1

Went up against a team known for their defensive prowess and they still managed to come away with the win. Pat came back down to earth while the rest of the league breathes a sigh of relief. Only problem is, this team is far from a one man show. Craig is a very good ball player, Hart can stretch the floor and Frank has a midrange game reminiscent of David West. Not to mention they have a handful of blue collar guys relishing in their respective roles. Most complete team in the league as of now.

LAST WK: 3

The remaining unbeaten isn’t Mombasa, Bukhara nor the 3-time champs Dhaka. To the surprise of most, it’s Lahore! Before we discuss what is ahead, let me just note that they have 4 guys averaging 10 ppg plus, AND ALL 4 ARE SHOOTING BETTER THAN 48% FROM THE FIELD. These boys are scoring and they are efficient at doing so. Now, about their schedule. Next 3 games are all against competitive ball clubs, win 2 out of those 3 and this team is the real deal.

I told y’all they’d be fine. TJordan McCain balled out! Cancel with a monster stat line, team scored 83 points, all without their top shooter in Mustafa. They are in the bottom half in points allowed, but I guess when you lead the league in scoring you can afford to give up 60 something points. Prediciton of the week: A-fay goes for 30 this week.

Last week I mentioned how great Muj is at scoring despite his jumper not falling. Well, Lagos got a taste of that wet jumper. The 2019 winter champs have depth man, and they are an unselfish ball club. Jean came close to a double-double without scoring! They’ll finish the season 9-1. Muj finishes second in MVP voting, coming up short because he goes away to some Caribbean resort while his team getting their mamba mentality on.

Tough loss for the up and coming stars, and boy their schedule does not get any easier. Bukhara week 4, bye week (aka Delhi week 5) followed by Tripoli and Mombasa. Eat your Wheaties kids, y’all are going to need it. But until those games are played, they deserve to be in the top 5 as they have outplayed expectations.

Beirut

LAST WK: 2

This game was a game Beirut was built to win. Low scoring game, tight down the stretch, ball in Mingo’s hands. 9 times out of 10, that scenario works in Beirut’s favor. Week 3 was an anomaly. Nicky Marquez, keep shooting. Only as good as your next shot.

Granada

LAST WK: 8

Granada should be a top 3 team with their height, basketball IQ’s and defense. A third of a way into the season, they have yet to play a complete basketball game. This week’s matchup is a nice test to see where they stand amongst the elite. Bold prediction: Omar Abbassi outshoots Fahad. :O

Mr. Moe Amin, I owe you a sincere apology my friend. 20 points 9 rebounds and a block is a vintage Mo Amin game. You continue to do that sir, along with Ameer’s presence downlow, Fahad’s shooting and Farzad’s scoring, we’ll have MB get your championship shirts ordered now.

They limited Ed’s and Netti’s production yet somehow gave up 63 points to a Jakarta team without Kenny and Jason. And they almost blew ANOTHER HALFTIME LEAD. Not sure how Captain Himey sleeps at night with these late minute defensive meltdowns. Next up, Sana’a.

Haven’t really beaten up on any notably squad but 2 wins this early in the season keeps you in the top ten. Now if y’all would have beat Kazan, they we talkin’.

Won a game they should have won, but who would have expected for them to nearly double Suba in points?!?!?! Is Weiss hurt? Player, coach?

This team is averaging close to 30 point attempts a game….. Maybe a step or two inside the arc would result in a few more points, or wait for it…. Wins.
