Bismillah, Al Hamdulillah, as we approach MB's 5th year anniversary, we would like to introduce a new program. After the blessings from Allah SWT, it's been the overwhelming support of the members that have given us the energy to continue running our leagues on a consistent basis. I remember back 5 years ago as we were planning out our first league, Summerball 2006, we literally were making phone calls to get player to form teams. Now, 5 years later, Al Hamdulillah registration has been filling up in just a few hours! As we are approaching the 5 year mark, one of our goals for the next 5 years is to encourage a more family atmosphere at MB. One of the ways we look to do this is through the MB Muslimah Group that will launch Summer '11 InshaAllah. I'm sure many of you have wives who wished they had some sort of outlet just like the guys do. Often times this becomes very difficult for them in our society while maintaining their modesty. The Muslimah group will be completely organized by sisters and will not only be catered towards the wives of the MB players but to any sisters who are interested. Our goal is that each season, the sisters plan activities they want such as Yoga, aerobics, etc, that are running in parallel to the MB league. With that said, we also look to provide babysitting arrangements for kids. For summerball '11 inshaAllah, we have a multi-purpose room at the PAL booked for this purpose. Bi Ithinllah, we hope with this initiate, not only brothers will benefit from MB activities, but entire families! Husbands who have wives that would be interested, please email Muslimahs@muslimbasketball.org. Of course in order to run the program we will probably need at least 25-30 sisters interested. Al Hamdulillah, as mentioned, the Admins over the past 5 years have received very encouraging feedback that has kept us going. Of all the feedback (good & bad) that I’ve personally received over the years, one comment a brother mentioned really hit me. AL Hamdulillah, he was impressed at the fact that through organizations such as JAMS & MB, Allah SWT united all different types of Muslims. It was at this that I realized that so many brothers that Allah SWT blessed me to meet through MB, I probably would never have met them in my local community, MSA's, conferences, etc. I pray that Allah SWT strengthens our brotherhood, and makes it a means of obtaining His pleasure. Every ounce of good that has come out of MB has only been from Allah and all shortcomings are from us. Barak Allahu Feekum Your brother, Saad Edited by user Monday, January 31, 2011 9:15:00 AM(UTC)
