1 Kazan (3-0) vs 8 Alexandria (0-3) Alexandria will really need to step up and shut down Jon Pride as much as they can. If they can hold him to under 15 points they may be able to knock off the #1 seed. Frank/Adham/Karim will all need to make their shots for Alexandria. This game can go either way. All depends on who wants it more.
2 Tripoli (2-1) vs 7 Jerusalem (1-2) Rematch of last week. Tripoli had a big game while Jerusalem could not finish a layup. Don't think Jerusalem will let that happen again. Tyrek will need to finish and Tyrone will need to put up big numbers. If Muj/Ed/Zak hit their shots, Omar/Jason will have a field day under the basket.
3 Bukhara (2-1) vs 6 Lagos (1-2) Another rematch of last week. Lagos held down their own as they only played with 4 players. Lagos will only have 5 players throughout the playoffs. Bukhara may be shorthanded this game also. It'll be an interesting game for sure. Fernando vs Afay is always a good matchup. Raza/Moose running up and down the court is hard to stop.
4 Timbuktu (2-1) vs 5 Amman (1-2) If Amman can field their full team for once, they can definitely pull out the win. Timbuktu just has a problem of playing down to their competition. Timbuktu needs to step on the gas on offense and continue to play their solid D. Amman's been a great fit for D2 and fun to watch, but will Timbuktu end their first season short?

Kazan over Alexandria Alexandria needs to get their stuff together and play like a team if they want to win. Their chemistry doesn't seem to be there for a playoff win. Kazan meanwhile has slowly but steadily but some nice chemistry over the past few seasons. Kazan by 13.
Tripoli over Jerusalem Jerusalem doesn't have the size to match Tripoli. If Muj is feeling it, it'll be an uphill climb for Jerusalem. Tripoli by 14
Bukhara over lagos Last seasons second round matchup. Both teams seem to be shorthanded. Depending on who Bukhara is missing this game could get ugly quick. Fernando vs Afay will be nice to watch, but Fernando won't have much help. Bukhara by 18.
Amman over Timbuktu My one upset pick. Amman has a few athletes on this team. If Amman plays like they did in their first win, Timbuktu won't be able to keep up with their pace. Alternatively, if Amman can't guard the perimeter they'll have some trouble. Amman by 3. |

Kazan over Alexandria Kazan has been steadily building their chemistry for a few seasons. They're poised for a good run this postseason. Alexandria has to be one of the disappointments of the season. On paper it really looked liked they had the talent to be competitive, they just haven't been able to put it all together.
Tripoli over Jerusalem If Jerusalem can put together a full game with the same effort they put into that great second half comeback plus overtime against Lagos, they could really give Tripoli trouble tonight. I think the game will be closer than people expect, with Tripoli pulling ahead late.
Bukhara over Lagos If both teams were at full strength, this would be a great matchup. As it is, I'm expecting Lagos to hang in there but trail for most of the game. If they get down early, they might not have the firepower to pull back in. Bukhara's roster has some of the most veteran talent in the league. These guys simply know how to win.
Timbuktu over Amman Looks like I'm going all chalk with predictions. The way Amman played in their first game, I was expecting them to roll through their next two games. But when they went up against some more seasoned competition (doesn't get any more seasoned than Bukhara's roster), they began to struggle despite their great athleticism. I'd say an early exit this year will make them hungrier to come back stronger next season. |
