LAST WK: 1

The anointed number one seed, with yet another statement win. Masta Weiss was hosting a Chuckie Cheese birthday party last night and brought everyone pizza. Shortly after, a basketball game was played and Sabra was giving out all kinds of presents. Moe Masri had 19, Sadat with 17 and Coach Petey had 16, 13 and 4. But I will point out, Sabra’s last 4 games of the season are going to be against some of the league’s best.

Talk about a beating! All five starters were in double digits and they won by 30 points. They held the formidable Gaza squad to a season low 41 points and made it difficult for their stars to get going. We have yet to see a real efficient game from rookie Mohammed Alzubidi, but with 4 other capable scorers in the lineup, we may not need to. Shafic should be the favorite for player of the week after posting 19 points 5 rebounds, 9  assists and 6 steals.

To piggyback what is being said on the pod, Jared could sneak up and win MVP. 19 and 17 on 9-11 shooting are numbers we have come to expect from the big. Zain made his return after a one game absence and he balled out, posting 21, 8, 2 and 3. Only flaw in this game was their shooting from deep, but it seemed that everyone had a rough night from the great beyond last night, so we shall let it slide.

Winless no more, but they went up against one of the league's upper echelons. Although, losing by 30 does raise some concern. Mahrooz and Singer shot a combined 7-29 and have yet to look anything like themselves and Moe Dirt only attempted 6 shots. The sole bright spot was “The Chef” going 7-13 from the field for 17 points. The road doesn’t get easier for Gaza as they face Baysan next week.

“Ty the Guy” Jackson does it again. He has played in four games thus far and has scored 32 points plus in all four. But the Nablus group can’t continue to rely as heavily on the superstar point guard. Malik tallied 19 of his own and knocked down 5 3’s and was the only other player in double digits. Medo Zubi has had back to back subpar games but I expect him to bounce back nicely the rest of the season. Up Next Al-Khalil.

Sneaky good team right now. When it’s not Jawad and Fursan steering the ship, Ali and Raied got it all under control. Nothing really stands out from the boxscore but this was one of those games, where you had to be there to know that they dominated Al-Khalil defensively and made their lives difficult. Not a team I would want to face.

Nice bounce back win, after an abysmal ending to their last game. Due to foul trouble, it seemed that Mahdy played the role of lone ranger with his sidekick assigned bench duty. S/o Yazan Sehwail with a career high 12 points on 4/7 from deep. Good for you young buck. It’s a promising sight that this team was able to pull this one out, with Hassan in foul trouble and contributions from a collection of players not named Mahdy.

Do we have a Lil O sighting??? 5-8 from tre ball? Is he back??? Maybe, but Al-Quds needed this win and they definitely made a statement out of it. I would also like to point out that Mustafa Abbassi is the greatest bad shot taker of all time. No matter how contested the shot, the form is beautiful, and you could live with the result, ala Klay Thompson. As for the rest of the whipper snippers, long sleeve Amir lasted a total of 5 minutes, and it was a rap once he made the adjustment.

They won with 4 dudes, so kudos to you. Burooj Al Mana finally made his much anticipated season debut, and it resulted in the usual 14 points, 15 rebounds and 10 free throw attempts. Hassan Farhat led the way for this squad with 19 points on 7-12 from the field. And did I mention they won this game with only 4 people!!!!!

LAST WK: 6

After stringing together some nice wins, they simply did not have it in this one. Keion went for 22 points but it took 20 shots while Yamin and Jehad each knocked down a pair of 3s. They should get back into the win column against a struggling Jenin team.

Haifa ya Haifa. They had the unfortunate privilege of facing Ty twice this season, and despite that, they couldn’t figure out a way to stop him. The Omar brothers did all they could, totaling 33 of the team’s 61. They won the rebounding battle, shot more FT’s and had fewer turnovers. They just simply couldn’t get the stops they needed and missed crucial shots down the stretch. This team has the scoring and playmaking, but they need to figure things out soon.

I hope there was a roster malfunction indicating the boxscore is wrong, because how on earth do you lose to 4 players?!?!?! Until proven otherwise, I simply have nothing to say. Actually, Afay c’mon man………

Another team with a surplus of talent but just has had a gauntlet of a schedule. Nice to see AMP ball out again, as he led the way with 27 points on 11-16 from the field, but that really was the lone bright spot. Ehsan and Mohammed combined shot 8-28 from the field, while no one else was in double figures. They are relying too heavily on 3 point shooting and need to use their athleticism and get to the basket.

28 3 point attempts from a team isn’t too outlandish, but 17 from one player is a cry for help. Reigning POTW Salman Khan struggled from the field but hats off to those Safad guards, as they pride themselves on defense. Captain Hasnan may want to address some X’s and O’s during the bye week.

Similar to Jenin, they have one player that continues to show up, while the rest are lacking consistency. Effort and hustle isn’t the issue with the team but they just need to figure out a few things offensively.

Different week, same result. Ian scores, very lackluster defense and another L. Far too talented of a group to remain winless.
