New Jersey (Central): Haifa (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 7 | 1-6 | 15 | This team is the definition of frustrating. They give one of the best teams in the league a scare last week, then can’t compete against a weak Tulkarem squad. The sheer inconsistencies is what loses them games. |
Week 6 | 1-5 | 14 | Have to give this squad major props for giving Tiberias problems. We haven’t seen them bothered all season, and this team managed to do just that. Elton finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Desar had 14. This game was a lot closer than the score tells, so if they come out hot like they did this game, they may be able to give Tulkarem problems. |
Week 5 | 1-4 | 16 | Deir Al-Balah was missing their best player, and Haifa couldn’t capitalize on it. I wholeheartedly believe they could have won this game, but undisciplined shot selection and lazy defense is holding this team back. |
Week 4 | 1-3 | 14 | I want to say congrats to Haifa for winning, despite going up against 4 players. I won’t take that away from them. A win is win. |
Week 3 | 0-3 | 14 | They put up a good fight, actually. Elton, Desar, and Usama had good games for the squad. Hopefully those good games can translate to wins soon. |
Week 2 | 0-2 | 14 | They came out flat and caught off guard. They made it close, but there’s only so much you can do when you let the lead pile on early. Usama is really coming into his own this season, having a team-high 22 points. |
Week 1 | 0-1 | 13 | You can’t really do too much against the defending champs, but you can try. Usama had a great game (17pts). Listen, I love this team. Elton, Desar, and Usama are great players and are the backbone of this squad. But my main problem with Haifa this season is going to be that they didn’t address any of their issues that plagued them last season. They need a big, or at the minimum, a solid rebounder. |
Preseason | 0-0 | 13 | Elton is bringing his boys back over the bridge. They’re a good team, and had a bunch of close games once they found their rhythm. If they start off how they ended last season, they can move up. |
