Week 8 4-4 10

They made it close towards the end, but couldn’t rally behind Mahrooz having a nice day from beyond the arc. Salman Ilyas, Zia Siddiqui, and Ameer Koyas also had nice days, but they just needed a little more this game.

Week 6 4-2 7

Somewhere off in the distance, I heard Mike Breen whisper a single “BANG” for Farhan Yousaf hitting a game winning shot; name a better way to get your first points of the season. Omar Singer carried this game with 18 points while Ameer Koyas had 12. Salman Ilyas led the team in rebounds with 13. But you can tell this team falls flat here and there, missing Mahrooz for a second straight game will do that. Let’s hope he shows up this week.

Week 5 3-2 8

No Omar Singer or Mahrooz, so I was interested to see who here would step up. The answer? Salman Khan, having 27 points on 11-21 shooting (5-10 from 3). With him, Ameer Koyas logged 14 points and 12 boards. I’m sure they’ll be happy to have their two starters back next game.

Week 4 2-2 9

Last week they were missing Mahrooz, this week they were missing Omar Singer. When will they be at full strength? Mahrooz (17pts) laid it all out on the court, but he couldn’t get it done by himself. Salman Ilyas led the game with 16 rebounds. Just an overall ugly day from this team, shooting 15.8% from three is a recipe for an L.

Week 3 2-1 7

Missing their best player, but somehow got a win from an up-and-coming Baysan team. Omar Singer (35pts, 14-28 shooting) led the squad while Salman Ilyas cleaned the boards with 15 of them. This was a scare for Tubas, and I’m sure they would’ve lost if Baysan didn’t get into foul trouble late. This week showed how much weaker they are without Mahrooz as a scoring option.

Week 2 1-1 10

Back with their full team, the rebranded Tiberias squad gets their first win of the season behind a solid performance from Omar Singer (17pts, 5asts) and Ameer Koyas (14pts, 6-10 shooting), both of whom missed the first game. Mahrooz finished with a double-double, with 11 points and 11 boards. They held off a strong Al-Bireh team, and I have no doubt that they’ll give everyone they face a hard time with the chemistry they’ve built over the last two seasons together.

Week 1 0-1 12

Did Mahrooz finally develop a shot? Going 5-11 from 3 might make him an all-around threat now. Shoutout Salman Khan, 7-13 from 3 is no joke, and he’s quickly becoming one of the best 3&D players in the league. Tubas made the game close till the very end, and it might’ve been a different game if they weren’t missing Omar Singer and Ameer Koyas.
