New Jersey (Central): Bir Seb'a (D2)
Power Ranking By Week | |||
WEEK | RECORD | RANK | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|---|
Week 8 | 4-4 | 9 | Abdul Mutaleb looked unstoppable on the court this week, and so did Husan Zakir. They were also missing most of their team, and getting the win here must feel good. This is a team no one wants to face right now. |
Week 6 | 3-3 | 10 | Abdul Popal is slowly ramping up as of late, 27 points on 10-26 shooting. He had the other team lost on some drives, and they had no answer for him. Even though this team was missing key players, Bilal Mughal (16pts, 9reb) and Aaron Maskarenas (9pts, 9reb) stepped up where they needed to. |
Week 5 | 2-3 | 9 | Down 16 at the half and missing their best player, Bir Seb’a climbed back to tie the game behind Mohammad Bashir’s 20 points and 16 rebounds. Husan, Humza, and Aaron all put in 11 points, with Aaron having 17 rebounds. 0-12 from 3 is rough for Mohammad Popal, but even with a decent shooting day from him, this game was theirs. |
Week 4 | 2-2 | 8 | Bir Seb’a is slowly ramping up to become one of the hottest teams at the moment, and with the debut of Mohammad Bashir (25pts, 11-18), you can count on that. Also contributing were Abdul Popal (18pts), Mohammad Popal (15pts, and Husan Zakir (11pts, 12reb). Everyone on this roster can step up any given week. |
Week 3 | 1-2 | 9 | Back to back games where they’ve had the final shot at a chance to win, and back to back weeks where they’ve missed the final shot. I don’t hate the shot choice, though. Abdul Popal (16pts) is a great player and makes those. Mohammad Popal finished with 12 points while Bilal Mughal added 11 rebounds. This team shows that they have fight, and I’m sure down the stretch, it’ll translate to quality wins. |
Week 2 | 1-1 | 8 | An absolute heartbreaking miss for Mohammad Popal to tie the game at the end of regulation. But there’s always positives to take away. Abdul Mutaleb (24pts, 8-18) looks like he’s getting back to form, and I’m sure no team wants to see him when his shots start falling. Mohammad Popal finished with 19 points, with some clutch 3s to make this game within reach. They were down by 14 at the half, and the game came down to a single shot. A lack of rebounding lost them this game. |
Week 1 | 1-0 | 5 | The Winter champs are making their return without the two pieces that won them the chip, but replacing them with Husan Zakir and MB vet Abdul Mutaleb Popal. The team overall had a solid performance, with four players scoring in double digits, with Abdul leading the way with 18pts. Mohamed Popal dropped 16pts of his own while Husan contributed 9pts, 14reb, and 7asts. Overall, they played a really weak Qibya squad; the real test might be coming with Beit Jala in game 2. |
