Week 8 5-3 8

This game was not as close as the scoreboard says, but Akka didn’t play their game well and still got a dub. They were short handed, and I hope they’re prepared to play a well-oiled machine in Beit Jala.

Week 6 3-3 8

Little Omar Abbassi is a marvel to watch on the court. 24 points, 9-20 shooting on the day, snatching ankles and losing defenders where he could. But this Akka squad had the win in their palms towards the end of the game. They didn’t secure costly offensive rebounds in the closing seconds which led to more points being scored. I’m not worried, I like Akka and their personnel.

Week 5 3-2 6

Took the W without breaking a sweat… sort’ve.

Week 4 2-2 6

Another team plagued by attendance issues in the last three games, Akka is been putting up a fight, but there’s only so much you can do when the fuel tank starts hitting E. Omar Abbassi had 30 points and Ibraheem Sharaf had 18 (on 7-25 shooting). Araiz continues his MIP campaign with 11 points on 4-7 shooting. They hung with the best team in Central, and I’m sure with their team back, they’ll be back in the win column.

Week 3 2-1 5

Araiz Spall (27pts, 10reb, 5ast) yelled, "There you go!" Ibraheem Sharaf (16pts) gave a look of pleasant surprise. Usman Khan (12pts, 12ast) belted, "We got a squad now." And before Omar Abbassi (38pts! 12reb, 13-22) hit the locker room door, current assist leader Tarek Hamid (8ast!!) hugged him & said, "We look so different." Boys, Akka is on the come up.

Week 2 1-1 7

An absolutely MASSIVE win from the short-handed Akka squad behind Omar Abbassi’s 34 points on 11-18 shooting. Usman Khan had 14 of his own, with massive boards to close out the game. Not to mention Araiz Spall, who had 11 points. Tarek Hamid had a game-high 7 assists; a truly unselfish player. Sure, they had a comfortable lead which they nearly blew towards the end of the game. But it’s all about the dub, folks. And the fact that no one has an answer for wrecking ball Abbassi.

Week 1 0-1 11

Biggest news of the offseason: Lil O taking his talents to… Akka. The star free agent, who struggled in his game today, chose to play with Ibraheem Sharaf (24pts) and his boys. This game was hard fought, and Akka clawed back during the closing minutes. They were without their big Ahmed Kouar, and the rest of the squad not shooting efficiently didn’t help. Look for them to bounce back in the coming weeks.
